Gotta love the fact that Louisville City FC had a record crowd on hand to see them defeat the first place team. Lots of kids. Then, the obligatory fireworks and resulting fireworks shots. Great night.

I spent the better part of a week at the Porsche Parade in French Lick (more to come), but spent the nights in Jasper. Here are a few shots.
What a treat to go the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (or, as Mondobasso would say, Hallowed Ground), and watch vintage race cars and muscle cars go at it. Hot, humid and a shower did not dampen the mood. There was also a car show, a Jaguar drive on a small auto cross, and an auction.
I just wandering around in my back yard this morning to survey the yard work to come, and I see where someone has dug some large holes in the flower garden. Then, I spot this Snapper with half of its body in a trench. Laying eggs. In about two months, should have lots of baby turtles scurrying to the creek (or some carnivore's gut). After a hard day's work, Momma Turtle was on her way.
The property next to our hotel in Smithfield, Rhode Island, last weekend was astonishing. I really tried hard to capture the stark landscape, materials and shapes. Good thing they were closed.
Got a press pass to tonight's game at Louisville Slugger Field. (City won.) Sports photography is a tough gig. The pro next to me had to have shot over 1,000 shots in the first half.
Thanks to Ken Tripp, I was alerted to this convention. Whoa, a different culture. A whole industry is out there--ink manufacturers, machine makers, and, of course, artists. I had no idea of the depth and scope of this business. Everyone was very nice about getting their photos taken. And cloud computing has finally been explained.
No interest in going in, but great for people-watching. Kentucky Derby time.
Can't help myself, I have to share a few more. The first one of a Basilisk lizard I call, "Excuse me while I re-grow my tail." The last one I call, "Señor Iguana" because he was just outside our door on the deck, just as happy as a room without a roof.
Celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary, Lisa and I had the good fortune to vacation in Costa Rica recently. We stayed in the northwestern part of the country called Guanacaste (Golden Coast). It is mostly arid, mountainous and rural. There are 2 great national parks there, Rincon de la Vieja and Palo Verde. I had a difficult time winnowing down the dozens of shots that I will cherish for years to come to the few I can share here. The last one is a photograph of bats sleeping on a tree. They arrange themselves and move around to emulate a snake to ward off predators.

Spring football practice for my beloved Louisville Cardinals is coming to an end. It was a glorious day at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium this afternoon.
After more than 7 inches of rain fell in Louisville over the past two days, causing flooding and other havoc, we got a reprieve last night. This had to be documented.
The Winter blues were swept away with a short trip to Key Largo with my bride and my friends. Party Central came through.
It started out very rainy, then just a little rainy. Nevertheless, a fun drive to Southern Kentucky with the Kentucky chapter of the Porsche Club of America (kypca.org). Austin is in Barren County. This dairy farm was a revelation. Hard work and science. Muscle, long hours and technology. I will never ask again, "Who moved my cheese." Fabulous cheese.
Our kids went on school field trips to Blackacre Farm in Jeffersontown, KY (a Louisville suburb), but I had never been there. So, Lisa and I went to check it out while there was still some snow on the ground. While not terribly interesting or unique, there were a few interesting shots to be had.
On our visit to Providence, Rhode Island (which is neither a Rhode nor an island, thank you SNL), I walked around the arts district. Winter's last gasp--we can hope.
Had to stop and take a few shots on the way to Lexington to take my bride out to dinner, as she had to work at the hospital this weekend. Dead sky and drizzly; nevertheless, if you have to shoot, you have to shoot.
Nippy, Winter day. Perfect for a stroll through the Humana Grand Allee. Met up with my friend, Nick Roberts, and despite the not-to-photogenic sky, managed to catch a few shots. Winter is hanging on much too long.
